PRESS RELEASE:
Cleveland – March 9, 2010.
The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) announced a change to the Board of Trustees; Jack M. Bacci, Mayor of Cuyahoga Heights, has been appointed to the Board by the Suburban Council of Governments (COG). In addition, Darnell Brown has been re-appointed for an additional five-year term by current City of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson. These changes were effective March 2, 2010, when they were sworn in prior to the Board meeting.
Mayor Bacci has served as Mayor since 2008, following a 15-year career with the Cuyahoga Heights Police Department, most recently as detective. Involved with politics his whole life; Mayor Jack Bacci is the son of the late Mayor Louis J. Bacci, who not only served Cuyahoga Heights for many years, but also spent 13 years as a NEORSD Trustee.
“I am glad to welcome Mayor Bacci to the Board and congratulate Darnell Brown on his re-appointment,” said Julius Ciaccia, Executive Director, NEORSD. “Mayor Bacci is very familiar with our Cuyahoga Heights-based Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant and I look forward to working with him over the next five years.”
Mayor Bacci succeeds Thomas J. Longo, former Mayor of Garfield Heights and Board member since 1988, who chose to retire and not seek reelection this past year.
“A lot of good work has been done during Mayor Longo’s years of service to the Sewer District, and on behalf of the entire organization, I sincerely thank him,” said Darnell Brown, NEORSD Board President, at a recent Board meeting. “I’m confident that because of his efforts, we are left with a good road map for where we need to be taking this organization.”
