Farewell Party

The Cuyahoga Heights Senior Citizens organization held a surprise farewell party at the Village Hall on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 6 for long-time Village resident, Mrs. Irene Masek.  Mrs. Masek was overwhelmed by the party and glad to see so many of her friends attending the event.

Mayor Bacci also was on hand and presented her with a Proclamation on behalf of the elected officials and residents of the community.
Mrs. Masek was born in 1921.  She moved with her family to the Village of Cuyahoga Heights while in her teens, and has resided here ever since.  She has three children, and was married to the late James Masek, who at one time was a councilman for the Village, in addition to working at the Neighborhood News for many years.

Mrs. Masek was very active with the Cuyahoga Heights Senior Citizens Club and is known as being one of the best bakers in our community.  Not only did Irene provide the most scrumptious bakery and candy for the senior citizen’s annual Valentine’s Day parties, but also for neighbors and friends alike.  She truly was a very kind, warm and positive woman who truly will be missed.  On behalf of the community we wish her health and happiness as she begins the next chapter of her life in South Carolina.

The Senior Citizens meet the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Auditorium. The second Tuesday of the month is their regular business meeting and the fourth Tuesday of the month is their social night.

Branson Trip

The Senior Citizens club went on a road trip to Branson, Missouri. They departed Cuyahoga Heights very early in the morning of Saturday, November 8th and returned back home late Thursday evening, November 13th. Everyone had a great time! The group saw Andy Williams perform and sing; enjoyed a lot of good food and sightseeing, as
well as plenty of shopping.
