Annual Picnic

The Cuyahoga Heights Senior Citizens Club had their annual picnic on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Klima Gardens.  You couldn’t have asked for a better day; the weather was perfect and the sun was shining.

This year’s theme was a hoedown and many of our seniors wore cowboy hats and scarves for the event.   Everything for the picnic was decorated in conjunction with their hoedown theme; from plates and napkins to their drinking glasses which were mason jars filled with delicious lemonade.  There was even a section in the pavilion that had bales of hay and decorations where seniors were able to have their picture taken.  Dinner included scrumptious barbeque ribs, fried chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, cole slaw and ice cream for dessert.

A big highlight of the evening was “The Coaster Car” aka the “Thriller Car.”  Our senior citizens rented the vehicle from the Euclid Beach Boys for their enjoyment.  I’m sure everyone around town saw “The Coaster Car” go zipping down East 71st Street that evening.  In case you didn’t know, the Euclid Beach Boys currently own the largest and most complete collection of Euclid Beach Park memorabilia in existence.  Last year, the seniors rented the “Rocket Ship Car” to everyone’s enjoyment.

The Senior Citizens meet the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Auditorium. The second Tuesday of the month is their regular business meeting and the fourth Tuesday of the month is their social night.

Branson Trip

The Senior Citizens club went on a road trip to Branson, Missouri. They departed Cuyahoga Heights very early in the morning of Saturday, November 8th and returned back home late Thursday evening, November 13th. Everyone had a great time! The group saw Andy Williams perform and sing; enjoyed a lot of good food and sightseeing, as
well as plenty of shopping.
