Regulations:
Ø   Maximum height of a fence is four (4) feet.

Ø   Side and rear yard from front wall of house to rear lot line.  Fence height may increase to six (6) feet subject to fifty percent free openings.

Construction:
Ø   Fences shall be treated with weather preservations or painted, and well-maintained on a regular basis.

Ø   All perimeter fences shall be located within three (3) feet of the property line except as otherwise regulated in the building and zoning code.

Ø   No perimeter fence shall be installed adjacent to another perimeter fence.

Ø   The face of the fence shall be on the outside of the lot or land upon which said fence is constructed.

Ø   No permit to erect any perimeter fence shall be issued by the Building Commissioner without the applicant first presenting the Building Commissioner with a survey of the parcel of land sought to be enclosed by the fence, or in the alternative, a written agreement among all persons of interest, contiguous to such parcel of land being enclosed, expressing their agreement and consent to the location of replacement of fence upon the applicant’s parcel of land.

Ø   Fence post holes are to be a minimum of 36” deep cast in concrete.  (8” diameter minimum.)

Application Procedures:
Ø   Submit two (2) sets of plans ($10.00 minimum; $.10 LF.)

Plans must be Complete and Include:
Ø   A site plan which shows the parcel, location of existing house and proposed location of the fence.

Ø   Construction plans showing how the fence will be constructed and what it will look like when it is completed.
